Windscribe is Canadian and offers a bunch of options a-la-carte
Air is Italian and has port forwarding and is on a insane sale right now.
What router?
I see Mullvad’s move away from OpenVPN mentioned a lot, but not the reasons for it. So for anyone like me who is reading this and curious, here’s a link to why they decided to move to Wireguard
For those out of the know: what’s the advantage of using open VPN?
As far as I know, Private Internet Access will continue to offer
.ovpnfiles.I am still currently a customer, and I’ve had no issues with them, however be warned: they have a bit of a sordid history regarding who eventually bought them (Kape Technologies). Also, they’re based in the US, which has been sliding towards Digital ID enforcement and fascism.
thanks but no. I’m trying to boycott all US/Israeli stuff
Might want to specify that in your post then, as that changes your options quite a lot I would think.
Done. Thanks.
The vast majority of VPN providers run on openvpn, unless they’re very modern and have explicitly switched to something like strongswan or wireguard.
Windscribe
Airvpn
PIA does
Yes. You can get openvpn configs from proton.
CyberGhost VPN does

so i should look for the ones with Wireguard-conf from the VPN-comparison table found here?

Surfshark does too
So do many others, I’d assume
NordVPN works very well for me. I’m coincidentally working on setting up an openVPN with their guide, and so far it has been clear and easy.
