weirdly your bug doesn’t occur on my pc, also mint. but i recall some setting causing my phone to not be able to reconnect, probably quantum-resistant tunnel. does it fix if you set that to automatic or off?

mullvads clients just seem bad. every time i wake my pc from sleep, cpu usage and temps go high for a good 20 seconds and the app is frozen. it constantly crashes in my phone too, and it wouldn’t work in UK at all for some reason. thinking lf switching to airvpn anyway because of portforwarding.

it’s an absolute pain in the ass with mullvad. only a few servers like ireland, greece and nigeria work.

not working quite that well on my end. no matter how popular torrent, mine won’t seed at all. and i can’t download some rare ones where there’s like less than 50 seeds.

another vote for material files. it’s the only good one that can access smb shares. the only alternative I found was ghost commander and it’s just absolutely horrible to use

I got so paranoid about librewolfs unique fingerprint that I threw it away and started using mullvad browser 😅 I use the one you can manually download from mullvad website, as mint doesn’t support mullvad repository. I just now tried the flatpak one and it was showing 600+ visits…but it’s unverified, so idk if that’s something to worry about?

I use basic firefox for stuff where I need to log in as me. probably won’t prevent some goddamn AI from spying on me but at least I feel one bit safer 🤡

  1. yup that’s the same thing I was using.

  2. I use linux mint, haven’t tried it on any windows system. tried on my phone and no browser can beat it, I’m totally 100% unique.

  3. score is 75% for me too. on any other browser it’s 27%, even without any extensions so this is still a lot better. oh and I just assumed 0% was bad because it’s shown in red, but if it’s the opposite then js engine and mimetypes are the big giveaways as they have 50 and 20%.

  4. it started at 55 and has been alive for a month. before I changed something in the settings it was 300. it still counts up when I refresh, open in a new tab, restart or even clean identity. can’t fool it. I suppose it wouldn’t matter as long as it confuses me with a few others too, I’m just not convinced it can fool google and meta.

so out of the box it blends in, but it still knows me even after cleaning the identity. in prediction section almost everything is red 0%, and it seems to know the browser is lying. if I use dark reader, I am unique.

I use mullvad vpn, and I tested with mullvad browser, and it always detects me. doesn’t even matter if I use daita etc…something gives me away. unique fp and it sticks between refreshes and restarts. I recall my gpu being one giveaway but I’ll have to check that again tomorrow.

try creepjs with mullvad browser, 100% traceable. it will always know it was you even if you clean the identity and restart the browser. and I bet googles tracking is even more advanced.

I use libredirect, it works for piped at least. make sure youtube is turned on in services, and “redirect only in incognito” is unchecked. every now and then it might miss one, just refresh the page.

show them a picture of zuckersuckers face and ask if they would trust him with your secrets

on my phone it goes from 280 to less than 1, on pc from 700 to 400-ish which is acceptable. but idk what the heck happens on android, becomes unusable.

when building a private house, the same advice applies as when building a private pc.

avoid windows.

I’ll be getting a new phone soon but is it a good idea to attempt to flash a new OS on a new kinda expensive device? i hate the idea of a used phone, but i wouldn’t wanna brick something worth a month’s rent. been over 10 years since I’ve attempted that (unsuccessfully).

i recently tried fedora kde spin and the drivers definitely weren’t in the software center. and i don’t like gnome so i didn’t try the official one, but i did suspect that the official one could be more user friendly. good to know.

another pain point is installing nvidia drivers. the first time i spent like 2 hours searching the interwebs for a working instruction for my gpu…

didn’t realize that was a legal issue. why can other distros automate it when installing the os?

that’s fun because some of my teachers like to upload their course material to youtube…

stood in my balcony with my pp out and someone saw me

  1. don’t use the shortcuts. steam on linux is a buggy mess, i have had those shortcuts corrupt the game so bad i had to remove and reinstall the game more than once…

  2. in steam settings, disable shaders pre-caching. that’s only a waste of time feature and it will cause some games fail to launch.

  3. when you unticked user defaults, it changed the mount point and maybe the id too. your secondary drive can be located in different directories. personally i always set it under /mnt and set id as HDD.

extra tip: use a better kernel like liquirix or xanmod. in my experience games have lower latency, and system doesn’t hang when there’s some resource intensive task going on. they are very easy to set up too. in liquorix you paste one command in the terminal and reboot, and in xanmod you paste 3 commands. if a kernel fails to boot you can always use the old one too, so there’s no risk even. (just tap shift key on boot until you get grub menu)

if it ran the test again, I’d say yes. but if it just reloads the result page, doesn’t mean anything

my logitech mouse is configurable in piper (no automatic profiles unfortunately) and my endorfy keyboard requires no installable software as all lighting effects are configured with fn keys

i wish i could like fedora based distros, but they always make my hdd unmountable and it’s really hard to revive it :(

yes, every damn website. changing server to another country may help. i noticed ireland is pretty immune to this but that server is down quite often.

i don’t use brave but i tried it once when i learned that it’s open source. google was not the default search and telemetry was off by default. also i don’t think it auto updates on linux because updates are handled by system updater.

i wish i knew about graphene when i got a pixel 6 pro. i got rid of it only after a year because it was such a buggy POS.

i don’t want anyone i work with to be able to find out what kind of porn i’m into

mint. my distrohopping always ends back in mint. heard good stuff about zorin too, i intend to try that next.

seen a lot of games with native linux ports, always need to use proton because usually the native ones won’t even launch successfully. the only one that works almost 100%, golf with your friends.
