I am looking for an open source app similar to Apple’s “Find My”, the intention is to give it root permissions and be able to monitor its location from another device and even be able to do a factory reset remotely in case of theft.
Is there an app that can be used for this purpose? Any help would be appreciated!

much thanks to @gary_host_laptop for the logo design :)
Check out Prey Project
I wouldn’t use it or trust it 🙂
And if that doesn’t work, you just start to pray /j
I’m so sorry. There used to be an app called aegis that did something like this, it used texts to your phone to trigger stuff. It was made by one of the CyanogenMod devs, I’m not sure if it’s still around… EDIT: the github is here, but it hasn’t been touched in a while lol

Seems like this would be a bad thing from a privacy perspective.
Depends where it sends the data. An encrypted email should be fine
You could give https://f-droid.org/packages/de.nulide.findmydevice/ a try
Thanks! I’ve been using it for the last 2 days and it’s just what I needed!
Nice to have this in an app.
You can also reproduce this with apps like Macrodroid or Tasker too.
