Maybe pedantic, but it’s a totally different developer that took the Infinity for Reddit source code and forked it into Eternity for Lemmy. The Infinity dev was not interested.

I have never even got the mobile extension to work. When I set it up and enter in my email and master password, the Captcha that is supposed go show up is missing entirely. There is just a blank space under the password field where the Captcha is supposed to have appeared.
I still don’t get why it would be time-dependent. If they are going to release a simple tool with a single simple function like that, why not just release a standalone tool that can be run in perpetuity? Does it really require authentication with Google servers or something to modify the firmware?
Look up the article on Wayback machine and you only find minimal updates over the years.
The difference between this and the most recent snapshot from before Aug. 28, 2024 is just that they removed the link to a particular news story. Even checking the oldest snapshot, you can see there has been no significant change to the main content since it was originally posted years back.
