Accept people for what they wanna be, its not that hard…
The website will ask for a user streaming to do something in-game or play a specific game while others are watching to probably earn something either in-game or in Discord.
I feel this is fine, the “streamer” can decide to do this tasks or not. And can disable receiving the tasks at all in settings.
I’ve not used Freetube in a long time. But what I can say is to check if you have the latest version. In the latest available release of yt-dlp
on Debian there is a bug where for some videos the Youtube servers would respond 403 Forbidden. It is fixed if you enable backports and install the newer release there. Might be related, might not. Depends if Freetube implements part of yt-dlp
Windows actually doesn’t allow any driver to work fully. We would still be in the wild west that DOS and Windows 9x drivers were.
Windows has a massive quantity of components only Microsoft products can use, or can only be used in a certain way. A third-party application loading them might risk their developer keys being revoked without a officially signed license of usage, if the keys are even present. But most situation end up with the software getting blocked by Defender or Smart Screen or the user’s Windows install being considered non-genuine. This is not only for security, but also to protect the license of the many components Windows is using.
You see no meltdown from Windows users because most don’t care when Microsoft tightens their usage rules. Linux users tend to be more tech savvy due to the need of curiosity to leave the Windows ecosystem, meaning they can care about this because they also tend to be actual part of the community, instead of being strangers or passerbys.
The Tor website provides .apk files for Android, and there is an F-Droid release too. https://www.torproject.org/download/#android
The new Diablo works perfectly in Wine/Proton. Battle.NET has a chance to need some tinkering, but works. In case, there is an automated script to install multiple 3rd party launchers in Steam via Proton meant for the Steam Deck, but of course there is no reason they won’t work on a desktop Linux.
I don’t own Diablo, but I had to setup Battle.NET to install Heroes of the Storm. Can say there wasn’t much to talk about.
As far as I know Rockstar’s luncher just works fine in Proton, no issues there.
DRM is not a problem anymore unless you pirate (anti-DRM modifications can break in Wine), but it is anti-cheats systems. Some games like Call of Duty Warzone, FIFa 23 and Destiny 2 don’t work because of it. (The last two only because they are programmed to not work on Linux voluntarely, Destiny 2 will ban every Steam account that connect via Proton)
Most devices work out of the box now, tinkering has reduced by a lot especially with easier distros.
I posted the following review on Play Store about FlullyChat (22 March 2022).
I am trying, I really am, to sign up to matrix but no matter all the captchas, the verification emails and agreeing to the terms my account doesn’t exist and requires me unspecified “additional verification”. Even on a different homeserver, using SAML, I with an account actually ready and connected in my browser the app just won’t log in. I got frustrated and left the app.
I actually got extremely mad that day, as it was an already painful day. Can you tell me if Matrix or FluffyChat have become easier to access from the outside?
