Telegram is good for citizen journalism (like what’s going on on the ground in Gaza and Ukraine), funny videos and memes, tech support, and casual conversation. Never privacy though.

artificial wall of unnaturally blinding white teeth

My teeth are white because I take care of them by brushing and flossing every day, going to the dentist regularly, and I don’t smoke. In other words, just by normal oral hygiene. How being responsible and taking care of your body is comparable to neck extension or cranial deformation doesn’t make sense.

Complete opposite here. I love it. Even flossing. Such a great feeling when your teeth are white and squeaky clean.

Feel free to link us to these abusive communities then since you are making a singular claim yourself.

Yes I watched your video. So many wrong comments from ignorance. And blaming a protocol for the behavior of people? Another commenter here pointed out how Tor could be blamed in the same way. Why not just do away with the internet then? Ridiculous.

Nothing wrong with the matrix spec. I’ve ran a matrix homeserver for several years now and have never had issues with illegal material. It’s free, open source, and self-hostable. If you have an issue with matrix.org that’s a different issue. Don’t use matrix.org servers. In fact, they have made it a point in their literature that they want you to use your own servers, they preach against centralization, and point out that matrix.org is an entryway to get you started, not an endpoint.

That’s too bad. Nova’s usually a good show.

Nevermind then. I was gonna say Samsung’s default mail app does what you want and afaik has no connection with Samsung or Google servers.

If you’re serious about it, yeah I can.

If you can get away with a non North American number, most countries will give you a SIM for free or next to nothing and you pay only once for pre-paid service, no monthly fee.

At least wait until you meet their parents so you can give your full presentation in front of the whole family.

Do you have an insta?

No.

Problem solved.

I am glad you had fun writing that blog post

Who are you talking to?

Well if you are really interested there are free docker courses like learndocker.online that can help.

No problem. I will say one thing for future reference regarding Docker though, if you want to have persistent data or move data or keep data around so that it can be mounted to another container, volumes are what accomplishes this. If using a docker command for starting a container, make sure you either create a volume first or the command includes the option to create a volume and mount it. If using compose, you want a volume block within the compose file to store your persistent data. This will make your life much easier.

if you have exactly the 6 system they mention (the script hates distros) than it may or may not work as for selfhosting, which i did with invidious before feels even more unstable and shaky than a public instance, how do i know my little piece of shit ip isnt gonna be banned for one reason or another, or that invidious keeps working since it hasnt received a proper new release since 2019

Invidious is constantly updated and new releases posted. If you’re looking at github for your release info, they’ve moved to quay long ago. I’m currently on 2023.11.04-438467f6 @ master. Tell me what you were hosting it on before and what you think you would be hosting it on now and maybe I can help if you feel you had problems in the past. It has come a long way since 2019. Also, do you have a link to your IP’s TOS? I can look over it really quick and see if they would have a problem with it.

I know you mentioned invidious going dark, but self hosting it is a piece of cake honestly so you don’t have to worry about the flakiness of other people’s servers. And the script is so easy to use. I ran this for a long time on a Rock64 with 1GB of RAM with no issues until I switched to Proxmox.

I never have. I guess I don’t understand the point of deleting your account? I have no issues with telling people my name and location. I live in Dallas, Tx and my name is Danny. I’ll even meet up with you and buy you a beer.

Never heard of GNU Taler, just looked into it. Looks like there’s no way to use it without exchanging existing money into electronic money. I guess some form of crypto is still the next best thing. Someone pointed out that Ether is no longer mined but staked, which makes a huge difference from an environmental standpoint, something like over 99% reduction in emissions from its mining days. Unfortunately the privacy of Monero is not there. Bartering has its uses as well, but I would argue that bartering can take even more steps to actually get what you want than a common crypto exchange.

As far as your optimism of a socialist/communist/anarchist society coming about anytime soon, I wish you luck but I don’t see that happening.

What would you suggest then as currency so as not to be involved with central banking? I don’t mean in a socialist future, but the here and now.

Until crypto gets serious about addressing its environmental impact I have a hard time jumping on board. As far as I know Monero is better than most, but still enthusiasts tend to hand wave away the energy concerns.

@MagneticFusion@lemm.ee the video you posted doesn’t allow embedding. Here’s the error message “This video contains content from Ligue de Football Professionnel, who has blocked it from display on this website or application”

The age restriction bypass for invidious uses an embed client. Here’s an age restricted video that works fine with invidious, because it allows embedding: https://youtu.be/VxhRnfi6yyE

Try this link from OP via invidious. I’m not having any luck https://youtu.be/OtN4H4jQx2M

Post the link to the video and I’ll try it on my instance.

Invidious doesn’t seem to have this problem
