Scapegoat is the person being falsely blamed for a problem. Children looking at shit they shouldn’t be online is the parents fault for not supervising them or utilizing any of the numerous parental control options available to them.
In this case the rest us are being blamed for that problem by being forced to deal with a bunch of privacy invading bullshit to fix it.
I turned it off after that because no matter what I tried I couldn’t get my Bazzite install to boot and I ended up having to start over. It did work fine up until then, just had to enroll Bazzite which they had instructions for on their site. Not sure it’s worth it to have it on though when things like that can happen, if I’d been able to fix it I probably would have kept it.
For me the problem is with Linux I typically have to go a lot “deeper” to solve issues I have and those issues come up more often. Yes there is documentation available but it isn’t always use friendly and I tend to have to spend more time deciphering it than I would for a Windows issue where I can usually find the exact steps I need to take with a quick search (or often just poking around in menus).
Because that’s what the core of the group that are generally making all the plans want to use. Some of us were trying to get everyone to use signal instead a while back but it never went anywhere. At this point I’m just grateful they aren’t using facebook to coordinate everything. Or at least enough of them aren’t that I can still find out whats going on via discord.
Can’t speak to the other apps but I have like 6 or 7 Discord servers that I’m actively involved in and a half dozen others I use sporadically. Even if I got all my friends to switch apps for our group chat I’d still need Discord for the servers I use and I’d rather not juggle two apps that are doing the same thing (actually already doing this with Discord and a text group chat and it’s annoying as fuck). Also, switch to what?
