I’m not sure what’s worse, kissing the ring or taking that Trump post seriously. He obviously did not write it, and he also obviously only makes statements like this to threaten others and secure their loyalty. Here we are a month later, and some of the richest tech bros in the country are expected at his inauguration.
However the details of this pan out, the timing of this news is beautiful. It’s right there alongside the headline in my feed about the Windows 11 market share going down.
And it’s not about being anti-Microsoft, it’s just that the market conditions are great for cementing Linux as an expected place to release your games. And I personally love seeing VR as part of it.
I think it’s safe to say that the Lemmy user base trends a bit more “computer nerd” than the general public. So we generally have more people that already use Linux, and more people that could reasonably benefit from switching.
Plus of course moving off of windows is one of the most effective ways to show your displeasure with Microsoft.
Yep, there were times when I was having a good time rooting and even overclocking my Android phone. Automating stuff with good old Tasker too.
But like I said, the “app launching appliance” life is all food for me now.
Plus I have an Apple Watch and like it, and my entire family uses iPhones. So whatever ecosystem inertia/lock-in could be there, is there.
They are good products, even if they don’t have the nerdy cool factor. Each day I’m working on old C/C++ code in Linux, so having my phone be a reliable appliance instead of yet another computer to fuck around with is totally fine for me. I liked my past Android phones too though.
No carrier bloatware and very long software support.
What I’m hearing between the lines here is the origin of a legal “argument.”
If a person’s mind is allowed to read copyrighted works, remember them, be inspired by them, and describe them to others, then surely a different type of “person’s” different type of “mind” must be allowed to do the same thing!
After all, corporations are people, right? Especially any worth trillions of dollars! They are more worthy as people than meatbags worth mere billions!
