Garmin is pretty much gold standard when it comes to sports tracking. Most other brands are a step down, and I imagine a FOSS watch like the bangle.js is a significant step down from Garmin watches WRT sports tracking.

Piped isn’t working for me either anymore. I was using piped.adminforge.de before, but I’ve tried other instances too without any luck. It won’t load play any videos at all. I can search and find stuff without issues, but I can’t play anything.

I have, it’s really not very good IMO. It’s half decent in English. but it sucks ass in my native language, half the suggestions it’s giving are completely wrong or nonsensical in the context of the sentence.

How do you get the auto correct / language support to actually work? It’s less than useless for me, it hardly ever provides suggestions or corrects typos and doesn’t recognise a lot of regular words. Adjusting the aggressiveness/confidence in the settings does absolutely nothing.

This was my experience as well, it was just way too inconvenient… Which is the crazy part, because it really shouldn’t be.

It’s crazy just how much of a PITA it is to use the internet when using NoScript

Ah fair enough, didn’t know they also had a VPN service.

Does bitwarden integrate with something like simplemail to create unique addresses on the fly for accounts you create? That’s the feature I like the most about protons PW manager. I can easily just create a new mail address for an account somewhere that automatically forwards to my proton mail, but I can also answer with that unique mail from my proton mail.

I don’t use my mail for storage, and santiize content often, so I only need a few mb.

The 500gb on the drive is more than enough for my photo backup. There’s almost 10 years worth of photos on mine and I still have plenty space left.

Mega doesn’t come with VPN, encrypted email and PW manager with integrated simplemail that ties in to your proton mail.

Different levels of service of course costs different amounts. If you don’t want or need any of the other things, then yeah Mega could be the best option for you.

We actually just ended the dispute peacefully a few months ago

Yes…ended it…that’s exactly what we want you to think. “muhahahaa…”

Hmm, my lineage OS phone passes basic integrity check, and my banking apps all work as intended, as do other government apps. But this damn 2FA app is still complaining and refuses to work, saying the phone is insecure.

How well does apps that require locked bootloaders, non-rooted device etc. work on grapheneOS? We have an official 2FA app in my country that’s used for digital identification for everything from banking to social security services. Right now it isn’t working on my oneplus 9p with lineage, despite using magisk and passing safetynet check, because it still detects that my phone is rooted.

I can’t search in communities or instances on my client (liftoff), don’t know if it’s possible with other clients or web interface.

That Paywall bypass filter hasn’t removed or bypassed a single paywall for me ever

I mean, it does what a calender should do i guess. I can make appointments and that stuff, which is just the basic functionality expected of a calender application, but there’s no sharing or syncing whatsoever.

Not the same guy, but i do use protons services. I like the seamless integration of simplelogin for burner mails that you can also answer with from your proton inbox, VPN across multiple devices (work well on android and windows, but the linux client is severely lacking), the calender is basic but has the functionality i want from a calendar, proton password manager integrates well with mail/simplelogin so you can create aliases and logins seamlessly. Their Drive solution i dont use much since it’s all manual backup at the moment.

If you want an easy one-stop solution that works generally well with no tinkering, I’d say it’s worth it.

I get 0% on CreepJS with default DDG browser set to “strict”, with a crowd blending score of 27%.

I get 40.7% with Mull + adblocker and 66.5% with FF + adblocker

“Your browser has a unique fingerprint”…well that isn’t good…

Its simply to avoid handing out my real phone number to companies so they can use it to match data from other datasets that link it to me. If im giving them my real phone number, i might as well also just give them my real email and not an alias.

Since i started getting in to online privacy, I’ve been stuck in captcha-purgatory a lot…it just keeps loading a never ending stream of new captchas for me to solve.

That’s certainly a different approach than what I do.

A google service doesn’t really inspire trust in privacy? I’m trying to move away from Google services as much as possible.

This is mostly just for various online sign ups, they have no valid reason to get my real phone number.

Bypassing phone number requirements?
Are there any ways to avoid handing over your real phone number, besides having an extra SIM? Lots of places/services want SMS verification, but i rarely want to hand out my actual phone number.
fedilink

Yeah so smug…it only stops accepting input from my touchpad if i close the lid on my laptop which puts it in sleep mode.

Just hope you’re never involved in an accident, they’re generally pretty shitty safety-wise.

Why wpuld they do that? Unless they want to track you…

That’s asking for a hell of a lot of trust in them… wouldn’t be the first, or last, time companies lie about these things.

What a ridiculous strawman argument

But unfortunately your schoolwork isn’t private, it is likely considered property of the school. You will encounter this in both academia and any job you acquire basically. Work you do for them, or as a part of an assignment they hand you (schoolwork, research in university or whatever task at a job) is their property, that is something you unfortunately need to accept.

Couple that with performing it on a device that is also not yours, but 100% theirs, they are allowed to do whatever the hell they want with it. Even if you did the work on a private device, they sill still own the work and the results you produce.

I just get rolling eyes and the “I don’t want another app for messaging…” whenever I suggest it.

I’ve been wanting to ditch FB messenger for years now, but everyone I communicate with use it, so it’s impossible.

The big 5 tech: Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft

There’s a few other acronyms for the same, this is the one I remember most often

I would love for the EU to just go all-out hardcore privacy protection and fine GAFAM et al. into fucking oblivion for not complying. If they shut down services, that’s probably for the better, although it will be a rough awakening for most people (probably including myself)
