Planned obsolescence: the other day I was setting up a refurbished MacBook air from 2017. It officially runs only up to macOS 12. I wanted to install apple’s productivity suite iWorks (pages, keynotes, numbers) on it.
But the AppStore said I would need macOS 13 to download and install it. Why the eff doesn’t it allow me to install an older version of those apps, and why does the 2017 not support macOS 13?
So I installed Open core Legacy Patcher, built a macOS 13 installer. Installed 13 with absolutely no issues and finally was able to install iWorks.
Any non versed or risk taking user would need to buy a newer Mac… good job apple.
They (write.as) decided against it, keeping it a strict uhm… writing platform.
It would be so easy to display ActivityPub Comments under the Article, but oh well.
Hey Choom, privacy, security and the ability to be in control is worth fighting for.
I hate how short term profits ruin good things for everyone but stakeholders. But there are independent developers, musicians, creator in generel or those who sell their stuff DRM free. Those actual humans are worth supporting and following.
Also having a hobby, like learning and or playing guitar, besides computing seems like a really good ide.
But don’t just trust our word on this. We’ve also worked with independent, 3rd party security and privacy assessors to validate EA anticheat does not degrade the security posture of your PC and to ensure strict data privacy boundaries.
Uhm this is just their word that they worked with independent 3rd party security and privacy assessors. They should name those so that one can verify their word.
you were talking about !piracy@lemmy.ml and how you were downloading stuff from a site they endorsed, and now you think you got infected by something. So I was asking what does that have to do with privacy?
Hahahaha… No.
You (potentially) voted for this. You will suffer it as well!
Also all of my and everyones correspondence is confidental, now what? We in Germany have a law (Postgeheimnis) for that as well!
