Expert says people face being filmed without their consent as $89 Anko smartglasses sell out in stores and online

Story about low priced Anko branded competitor to Meta smart glasses. The story author calls out that despite Meta’s attempts to prevent recording if the LED is covered, it is easy to get around the block. I think it’s good for mainstream press to say it, so more ppl realize. They also call out that human moderators at Meta review their smart glasses footage. Inc videos of people having sex or using the toilet.

IDK if public backlash will nix the market for these, or if opposition will dry up and in 10 more years they will be mainstream tech like smartphones are today. I could see it going either way TBH.

It scares me that one of those timelines leads to a hellscape worse than the one we already have.

Wait, hold the fuck on a second… Australia still has K-Mart?

The backlash isn’t as powerful as the drive to monetize another accessory and the hundreds of billions of dollars to make it happen.

Without any kind of privacy laws making this kind of thing illegal, every company would want that kind of mass data and will gladly give you the glasses in order to take it from you.

I gotta say some of my bullshit on here again tbqh, I’m not afraid of the surveillance state I’m afraid of capitalist surveillance. You already have one, but people are in denial about it. Stuff like this will harden the situation & it will be undeniable. Maybe it’s actually not so bad to constantly be aware of your every move, to be aware that you’re being scrutinized by the Epstein class. That time is running out. That was true already. Now you have some dumb fuck with stalker glasses to embody it. Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera,

Go watch Southland Tales and tell me you don’t just live in that environment in Australia

Been a while since I seen a Kmart. Lol.

Didn’t believe it myself, but still very big in OZ.
