Known trackers, permissions and informations about this specific version of this application

Searching for Web browsers in the Aurora Store and checking for trackers I was really surprise that TOR Browser has 2 trackers according to Exodus. WTF!!!

https://support.torproject.org/tor-browser/security/tor-browser-for-android-no-trackers/

The trackers detected are:

  • Glean (Mozilla telemetry service)
  • Sentry

You can inspect them in App Manager if you have root, and disable the specific activities and providers from the app if you care about this.

What about the f droid version?

Actually these are inherited from Firefox and disabled by tor.

emacs?

maybe residual firefox configs that were disabled but not purged?

The first tracker is “Mozilla telemetry” probably a leftover, the other is “Sentry” which is a crash reporter, Sentry is not a problem i think

AFAIK Sentry is mostly bug or error checker and its send to the devs.

I tried TOR just once; it doesn’t fit my needs. But for others, this program is essential to their safety—even their LIVES. Just one tracker is too much.

Inherited from Firefox and disabled

Tor is aware, and are working to completely remove the trackers that were transferred over from the code. That being said, all the trackers are disabled by default so it’s not like they’re actually reporting anywhere. Tor has one of the best track records for privacy of any software. I don’t think your raising any flags or blowing any whistles that the people who trust Tor are unaware of.
