- Pixel, and immediately install GrapheneOS.
I am surprised Google still allows to open the bootloader, with all the bitching they have been doing towards sideloading apps, play integrity BS and making android more similar to iOS in general terms…
I love Stremio it is so simple to use and relatively easy to set up, I like the set it and forget it format it has (and your settings and setup are synced across all the devices you like).
With that said, geek me can’t leave aside Kodi for good, I have a Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019 and that is where I use it, even when the setup I’ve for it is somewhat heavy (it makes my Shield struggle sometimes) I love thinkering with it, because… there is fun thinkering right?
My gf does Stremio almost always though.
For seeding? Out of luck as I don’t have a VPS currently, I used one to open my ports with some hacky ways using Wireguard and IPtables stuff, if there is a better way I would like to know lol.
Now I just constantly seed in hopes that people with the ports opened can access my stuff.
For accessing my files, Zerotier and Tailscale have been a godsend.
I also happen to have IPv6 support and I can access some exposed services through it without too much hassle, Plex and Bitwarden are two big examples.
Come on, you know what I meant, compare pre iOS 7 with whichever Android was at that time… You can see nowadays the release updates are switching and iOS is implementing more features (or features that it should have had since the beginning lol) and Android is closing down more (Google’s fault and no root ofc).
TIL Tasker even worked without root lol.
Also, why do we even need tasker to do that? iOS allows you to do that with its Shortcuts app lol, this is a weird moment when Android is becoming more closed and iOS open (in system wide features).
Well, that is why I chuckle when people say there is no reason to root nowadays… Heck, not even banking apps will prevent me from rooting my phone, and my next android purchases are gonna be based in whether it can be rooted or not.
while still being able to use your own DNS/wireguard VPN/proxy…
Wait, I thought the “downside” of this app was that it used your VPN connection, compared to NextDNS or the built in DNS feature of Android.
I also use AdAway rooted version and not really looking into changing it, but if you could clarify about this I could happily see it as an alternative :)
You may prefer to skip Mozilla entirely and self host your own Firefox Sync: https://github.com/mozilla-services/syncstorage-rs
Bruh, I didn’t know about this, I swear we can self host almost anything, can we self host the Internet?
Huh, dude, I am forced to use WhatsApp because it is the number 1 app here where I live, nobody even used SMS, which I actually didn’t believe was a thing until another lemming pointed it out lol.
WhatsApp has always been behind other options such as Telegram, for example their WhatsApp web implementation is a huge joke compared to Telegram, or the way it stores the data too.
Yeah, but you need to concede that their efforts to block “unofficial” users have strengthened as of lately… That’s why I think they might do a Xiaomi move sooner or later.
