This is for people needing MSOffice, Adobe, AutoCAD and whatelse. This does not run in WINE, on purpose.

Just stop. Your comment does not help anyone.

You can’t do this if your job depends on using such software. And there is a ton

Ok so there is no point?

What you said is mentioned in the post multiple times. Poorly, node.js garbage like Adobe creative garbage blocks Linux for no reason, so Windows is needed.

I am daily driving Linux…

Mainstream distros are not great products. Downstreams like uBlue do a good job, but have their own issues.

True. Windows 10 is atrocious. I have to say, a debloated Win11 feels almost too good.

So, lets focus on making Linux distros shiny and easy to use!

It is clearly mentioned that

  1. A huge amount of people use Windows 10 or older. Being a privacy elietist does not change that
  2. This is for people needing windows software
  3. The result is fine but still not private, simply a more reasonable OS

Guys can you please read the post before writing random nonsense.

  1. This is for people NEEDING windows only software
  2. Ventoy is useless for the things I want to achieve. Rufus allows to change a bunch of things with a single click, like offline account, cloud, telemitry, bitlocker

Mind to tell me what is missing then? NextDNS or Portmaster could be used, but they add more complexity. And as said, Windows should not be considered a safe OS so hardening it is kinda useless

If you want to host stuff, you probably want Termux. It is its own distribution but you may want to run a Debian proot inside Termux, which will have way more software and maybe also more reliably and fast security updates (heard that was a problem in Termux)

What would you expect?

The tor network has more common stuff, drugs etc.

I2p meanwhile is just really good for anonymity. I think using it for messengers is the best use. I was able to find a bunch of stuff, and yes unlike the dark web this would mostly be also there on the clearnet, mainly because there is no such business on i2p I guess

Just random people offering services for free, a few pads, pastebins, fileservers

You can find quite some cool stuff actually, but I think the main advantage is using it for messaging

And unlike i2p, i2pd also doesnt really use much battery? I could totally keep that on all day

Anyone can host a site. Just keep it up for like a month without a pause so that it can be discovered.

Then go to a domain registrar and get a domain name. I2p sites have BASE32 names, kinda like onion addresses. But they can also use shorter names like postman.i2p

If you register such a name, the site will become more discoverable as those registrars likely share the sites, you might appear in some lists, people connect to you, add you to their address book and forward stuff to you.

yes absolutely

They ditched git? Really?

Use i2p on Android with Firefox/Ironfox
On Android/GrapheneOS, Firefox/Mull/variants is the only browser with the needed proxy settings to use with i2p. After a bit of searching, it works very well! As i2p servers you can use "i2p", "i2pd" (more minimal but more efficient) or "InviziblePro" which bundles some implementation of i2p. I am using i2pd currently, and it works well. Installed the apps with Obtainium - Mull from the DivestOS F-Droid repo - i2pd from the purplei2p F-Droid repo - MullvadVPN from Github, Orbot from the guardianproject repo (as fallback if clearnet sites are used) The browser can open .i2p and clearnet sites, using a little hack: `network.proxy.no_proxies_on` to `!.i2p`

I mentioned espeak at least somewhere. It is 32bit and likely unmaintained. And the Android version is already better than what I had on Fedora KDE.

Yes, something like improved espeak would be fine and extremely efficient. But this works fine too.

Modern phones have NPUs for low power neural network tasks like those. Older ones hopefully use the GPU for that.

The apps are pretty flawed in that they have only one model.

And it is very impressive how espeak can do so much, so efficiently.

Its simply that nobody created a better voice model (and removed all the silly joke okes) for it, and ported the APK to modern Android with armv8a (64bit)

Speech to text exists with FUTO keyboard and whisper.

Espeak is the only TTS for german, and it is 32bit and sounds awful. It is quite embarassing to use that for navigating with other people used to… modern voices.

Nice! It all depends on the model.

Thorsten has spoken 23+h of audios into his main dataset, crazy

Yup but people dont read to the end of the thread

Arkenfox, Librewolf, Torbrowser, MullvadBrowser.

Those switches. It is not easy but it is possible, unlike on Chromium, where after applying even policies it constantly pings Google.

Yes, the result is: FF is the only thing we have. I tried to manually ungoogle Chromium, it sucks. Brave is shady, Vivaldi too.

Use Torbrowser, Librewolf, Arkenfox, Mullvadbrowser and contribute and donate.

I dont think Mozilla makes degoogling hard. It is very easy to keep track of the changes and simply flip some switches.

But it is of course ironic that their product is useless.

People used Firefox because Internet Explorer sucked. Now they get ads for Chrome everywhere, have Android and whatnot devices, and Edge is working okay.

People are using devices as appliances, they dont expect needing to repair something they bought new.

It really is crazy if you see the hype for the “sovereign tech fund” for GNOME, that was literally just 1mio€.

It is so insane how people can waste so much money.

When donating, nowadays I am often very certain that giving money to homeless people will always be better than giving it random “nonprofit” “charities” that will simply sustain their 1st world lifes as “operation expenses”.

So watch the video :D

They specifically mention this issue

Actually pretty good video. - Search engine - Google location service instead of their own (which they quit) - FakeSpot & Pocket collecting crazy personalized data Also info about difference between Mozilla Corporation and MZLA Nonprofit. If you donate to Mozilla, nothing goes to Firefox. Instead they host petitions and beg big tech companies to be more transparent. They dont focus on old users at all, and it seems they are unable to implement basic stuff. --- I still recommend using Firefox, but with the [Arkenfox userJS](https://github.com/arkenfox/user.js). Or just use Librewolf. Firefox is not usable. And dont donate to Mozilla I guess.
