i agree with you, but the company has now invited scrutiny openly by allowing a) andy to make this tweet (personal accout or no) and b) andy to make a follow up statement using the proton reddit account. people have a distaste now, so expect to see everything you say and do to be overanalyised.

this is the most “i think my userbase are idiots” statement anybody could make. like do you think we dont know how time works andy? fuck you

This may sound drastic but really I think the only move for Proton is fire Andy. They’re a non-profit, the board need to step in. He has single-handedly cost the company both current and potential customers by just not being smart enough to keep his mouth shut. This makes him an idiot, and an idiot as CEO is not a good look (see: anything musk)

To say “I made an apolitical statement last year” when we can verify that the statement was both political and within 30 days is bizarre. He thinks we’re idiots, to boot.

Do the web apps not still work? I’ve booked Uber eats from a computer in the past, I’m imaging the phone browser version might still function. I don’t have lyft in my country to know tho.

Sometimes I like sitting in my Unix-based ivory tower, but then I remember my daily driver uses macOS and that it’s only a matter of time before they employ something similar/worse.

When the inevitable inevitably evits, the toughest choice for me will be fedora vs tumbleweed.

Which models do you run on jan? I often get very weird responses and/or never ending feedback loops.

That being said I still don’t have much use for text-based ai, it doesn’t really fill any gaps in my workflow

Yeah this is the dichotomy I’m in. I have a yubikey, but obviously can’t afford to have all my eggs in one basket so every account I have the passkey on I also have 2FA setup with 2FAS Auth. Proton finally started storing passkeys tho so I’ll shift to that solution when I find the time.

I think “unnecessarily over-the-top” is a key demographic in every market. Not a large one, but definitely present.

My only complaint is the lack of passkey support. I just want to store my password and passkeys in one place.
