If you’re concerned about this, you may want to consider buying a commercial display, which is basically just a giant monitor. They’re meant for businesses and hospitals, so they’re going to be expensive. Many brands such as LG and Samsung sell commercial displays.

Anothet alternative is to buy a projector. Projectors offer a much more “cinematic” experience, and they can be cheaper in comparison to commercial displays. Although there are a few projectors that have smart (anti-)features, most of them lack these. For a projector, I recommend the BenQ HT2060. It’s confirmed to have no smart features, and supports HDR.

It means it can’t ever become proprietary closed-source software (not without a major lawsuit).

I just bought a Pixel 8a and I’m planning to install GrapheneOS on it. Are there any other recommend
So today I finally took the plunge and bought a new Pixel 8a to install GrapheneOS on. It will be my new daily driver, replacing my current phone. It's getting delivered tomorrow, and I'd like to make sure I'm getting the full privacy/security benefits from the device. What other recommendations would you provide?

That is a temporary solution. OP is looking for a whole other service to replace YouTube.

I’m not sure if you can replace YouTube. It’s too popular and has been a mainstay of the Internet for 19 years. We won’t be able to convince people to just up and leave YouTube.

Best case scenario is to lead by example and start sharing videos from PeerTube.

Thanks for telling us about Redlib!

To circumvent rate limits imposed by Reddit, OAuth token spoofing is used to mimick the most common iOS and Android clients.

This way, it won’t suffer the same fate as Teddit and Libreddit. Of course, there’s also rdx.overdevs.com.

Yes - just go to https://flathub.org/apps/org.yuzu_emu.yuzu, then click on “Install”, and you will download “org.yuzu_emu.yuzu.flatpakref”.

I installed Windows 10 in a virtual machine…man, this is straight up dystopian.

In other words, even after turning off all the settings, your data still gets collected. The rest of the installation process wasn't fun either. It was worded in this weird, condescending tone, like "Let's get everything set up for you", and "Let Cortana help you get things done!". Thank goodness for FLOSS and GNU/Linux.

When YOU post something on the Internet, it will stay there forever and ever.

When SOMEONE ELSE posts something on the Internet, it will disappear off of the face of the earth tomorrow.

While we’re on the topic, can anyone recommend some good RISC-V computers? It seems interesting and I’d like to try it out.

There was once a time where I thought living with apps from only F-Droid was impossible.

Now, F-Droid is my only app store, and I only use Aurora Store for banking apps (and even then, I prefer to do banking on desktop).

I’ve said this before on Lemmy, but you may want to consider getting a projector instead. They (usually) don’t have any smart-capabilities or Internet connectivity, and with the right setup, the screen size can be bigger than even the biggest consumer TV on the market.

The cons are that you need to be in a dark room, and if you want a really good projector (which you will), it’ll be just as expensive, or even more expensive than buying a TV. Also projectors don’t have OLED.

Personally I wouldn’t get involved. It doesn’t seem trustworthy at all.

GNU Taler is everything that Bitcoin/crypto says it is but never will be. It’s the “anti-crypto”.
