We have a Shield Pro and unfortunately flashing wasn’t an option of us. What we did was start using an “alternative” launcher called Projectivy and installing apps outside the Play store.
Casting isn’t possible too, we simply learned to live without it. It seems you can use it on Kodi but I never really tried.
On Mobile I use Firefox Nightly but it is a pain. It crashes all the god damn time. I don’t know how y’all do it, Mull is the same thing because of the upstream. I sometimes consider using Vanadium but I ain’t pissed enough yet, I think.
On Desktop, Librewolf for mostly everything that I can manage work with it, what doesn’t I open whatever other browser that’s available.
I’m curious why no one recommending FlorisBoard.
I’ve been using GraoheneOS as my daily driver for months now. I still have issues with things that need Google Localization (car sharing program in my city for example) and I’ve had a few banking apps complaining when being installed from the Aurora Store.
I miss having my cards on my phone quite a lot.
Sometimes I have doubts if some people I see posting here on Lemmy actually work. It seems like y’all live in this Wonderland where finding new jobs is extremely easy and convincing whole companies to use free software is easy like sending an e-mail. I’m honestly envious.
But still, the fact that the person already said that not using Windows isn’t an option and you persisted questioning wasn’t very nice, so I see no reason for you to be rude and offensive when someone call out your behavior. Please keep it civil.
People like to take sides on the internet without doing proper research too, I think. I had this idea that Micay was toxic and kind of avoided the project for a long time. My conclusions after doing more research is that he is someone that lacks social skills and is indeed very opinionated. However, GrapheneOS isn’t made for privacy activists that can afford to use Mull instead of Vanadium, for example. GrapheneOS is made for people that cannot afford to have a phone that might leak information that could endanger their lives.
If Mikay was someone like Palmer Luckey which is a biggot that’s a whole different story. I am glad I gave GrapheneOS a try and I am very happy using it, even if it is kind of overkill for my privacy needs.
Your option is having a financial institution that provides tap to pay on their own app. Otherwise you will have to start carrying cards again.
Edit:
You might want to check this thread on the official forums which has the discussions regarding NFC payments.
I have seen people recommending the usage of a smart watch such as Garmin which has their own Pay application. You can check their compatibility list here. I didn’t have any luck because they support like 5 cards in Canada.
I always try to keep in mind there are a lot of people that are simply unable to transition to alternative apps because they lack knowledge and time to do research on such things. What we see through videos isn’t the majority of the people, it is people that make content for the majority.
People have hard times getting into more technical stuff already. Expecting people that are struggling to survive in capitalism to spend their free time learning about underground alternatives or to turn into sys admins and host their own stuff is out of touch if reality in my opinion.
Edit: just wanted to add, I wouldn’t say the problem is on the people, but on big tech that predates on them
I stopped using it after I was having many crashing issues (it was from upstream, but at the time upstream was already updated and it took weeks for them to release an update). Since Mull is just Firefox with a few settings changed I decided to use regular firefox, but it seems that on Android if you are really rad about privacy you should be using Vanadium (which unfortunately is Chromium based)
This is a census so people probability answered they use ad blockers on the computer but they didn’t ask about mobile, I assume
Here’s where the report is.
Well, when I was learning I didn’t see any issue in using it. I also just learned they have a learning area
I remember the main dev of Mull saying it can be done on about:config but you need to disable something else, maybe you can find it on the project repo
