Have you considered using a sandbox app such as Insular which is available on F-droid or Shelter.

Shelter creates a work profile, isolating apps installed in this profile from the mainland. Shelter has the advantage of supporting per-site data isolation with Android 13, which achieves the same goal as sandboxing.

You can isolate entirely your contacts from being seen by other apps if set up correctly. Furthermore, Shelter allows for a VPN only for the work profile, which is a useful feature for enhancing privacy.

I have used an app called island in the past, but sadly it’s been discontinued,it was great as it allowed a VPN both outside and inside the sandbox.

It’s great, I’m not sure if it can be tweeked like the FUTO speech to text app but it’s fast. I have had it miss a couple of words but that may have just been coincidence.

It is for me (android, iceraven browser) and I don’t get any text after the heading.

The FTC says the easiest way to comply is to ~not collect the data in the first place.~meet us behind the Apex building in Washington DC with the G’s

I’m not ignoring my friends; I’m just pointing out that due to the convenience of these apps, the people around me use them without seeming to care about their privacy implications.

I guess you are right, for me I just try to avoid all Google links and products in the first place. I understand that you can tweak privacy controls and settings that allow you to manage how your data with Google is collected, I could also use a privacy browser or incognito, but my main issue is not giving any of these juggernaut corporations a chance to swing and cash in on my personal data.

The problem for me is when someone sends me a location pin it is almost always a Google map link. I have the same issue with people in my community using whatsapp.

Brilliant, A.I does the heavy lifting takes data for free then resells access to it while us who contributed for the last decade don’t get a dime.

So can your IMEI, with leaking apps and push notifications our phones are essentially digital snitches in our pockets.

Thanks for the link, the part about disabling Ad privacy in Android is also helpful, I had no idea about this and all of it was turned on after the last os update.

First it was Chat Control, and the US was flirting with it’s KOSA reform, now with elDAS 2.0 this all seems like global whac-a-mole for privacy. I read that elDAS was subject to approval behind closed doors in Brussels on November 8, What happened?

Does anyone here use NewPipe on Android? I also have Grayjay but haven’t really felt the need to get into it just yet. Just wondering if NewPipe is a bad choice for a YT client alternative?

Great! I’d be interested in seeing a somewhat detailed comparison between UBlock Origin and Badger Swarm. I really liked the concept of privacy badger, and it seems like the latest updates may have addressed potential fingerprinting issues and improved its slower organic learning/blocking model. I’m definitely going to check this out. 👍

Are there any comments or thoughts on how effective vpn’s are these days aside from curcumventing region restrictions? With fingerprinting and pixel tracking and more, are vpn’s losing their standing as a modern day online security centric option?

I wonder, are there any decent open source apps available for IOS? Asking for a friend, an Android envious friend, (actually my wife)

So we are going to have to go back to the old CB radio… Oh wait.

This is incredible, thanks for the heads up, I’ve been looking an app like this for a good while.

I would look to someone such as Michael Bazzell, he has a great podcast "the privacy, security and OSINT show. He offers loads of information on privacy and can advise on what you are looking for. Check his website : https://inteltechniques.com/index.html

Thanks for this, yeah I also looked at the privacy policy on GitHub and it was pretty well bare bones. I haven’t ever used the voice to text function nor the dictation abilities on my phone due to Google services having mostly a monopoly over crunching the data. I know that now days we are starting to see more A.I driven services, and I’d admit that I am not 100% in the know, but I’d assume that Google will be handling this part of the translation as it’s reliable and free.

Fantastic! I have a question regarding the app. I understand that it can translate words and text from pictures, but I also noticed a microphone feature which I assume is for voice dictation. How does the app process voice input? Is the voice data sent to a server for translation, and if so, who is responsible for handling this data?

Yeah I was being a bit facetious I admit and I agree what you said is 100%. No data is safe these days and I guess I was trying to outline the fact that signing up to privacy.com is no different than signing up to a new banking institution. It’s who and what you trust in the end and for what it’s worth, privacy.com has a great concept and it would be a great option to use if trying to avoid personalcredit card scams and fraudulent activity.

Oh yes privacy.com, may as well sign up to google docs, they only need to collect…
