Based on what I’ve been seeing, the latest crop from MSI and Asus of higher end OLED models seem to make burnin a bit of a non issue with their prevention methods. I own a 1440p Asus OLED panel as my primary monitor, I’m not careful with it, and I haven’t seen even a hint of burn in after running it for a year.

Now, will it last 5 years? 10? That remains to be seen, but I’m not really stressing on it.

Several open source projects do this, I use Hyprland and it does the same. These are community supported projects made by unpaid volunteers for your benefit. It’s definitely not the same.

This means we need to keep being the best community we can be. Welcoming, helpful, and distro agnostic. I might occasionally Stan for the distros I love, or talk a little smack about ones that left a bad taste in my mouth, but when we’re helping new users, we need to meet them where they’re at, and give them the little boost they need to stick with it.

Thanks for the great share. I try to convince my loved ones of the value of even small, low effort ways to control their data slug trail. They don’t get it. Not even a little bit. And the vast majority of people won’t care until we’re all living in a black mirror episode.

Are we already living in a black mirror episode? Fuck.
