we use it to classify data that is needed to be sent to one of three endpoints. chatgpt tells our tool where it belongs. there are.probably more practical ways to do this, but the customer wanted AI in his product so here we are 🤷

awstats parses logfiles to create statistics, which op probably has not due to the page beeing hosted on github

iirc they need to comply with google store policies, but when downloading the apk directly that is not relevant.

even with a dead battery? how? there must be something ‘turned on’ to send bluetooth signals or is this magic?

well if it’s not enabled by default and not used when the user does not want to - it is privacy first, with optional non-privacy. no?

i wonder why this happens. are you from somewhere where this is common or were your transactions shady? i only got my bank block one transaction for me and that was because i didn’t know i had to ‘activate’ the ability to send money to accounts in the eu

this is installed by default in case you want/need to enable it (company phone). it is a system app so it cannot be uninstalled, after disableing it (which probably does not do anything when it was not setup in the first place) you can uninstall the updates (so the ‘old’ version that’s sitting in the system image is still there)

use an adblock list and just visit the urls one by one using curl

if you get a letter because you violate the gdpr thing you have to pay. there is no ‘it looks like you do something wrong. stop it or you will be fined’

then again the fine is based on yearly profit, if op is not a company the gdpr should not be a big problem. (but still could be)

that’s not the point. the user is going to open a ticket because something does not work because their browser does not support it. and it’s way easier to tell them to install ‘this browser’ than to install ‘a browser that supports a specific feature’. most of the users don’t even know what a browser is…

i work for some people who don’t host their own gitlab/gitea/whatever and use the paid tier from github or gitlab. they could not use codeberg.

i guess it’s not about the actual site not supporting some browser. it’s usually about not wanting to deal with users that have problems with the page in some obscure browser caused by some random plugin or something but the user blaming it on the service. or because of tracking.

in the eu all newer models are required to be able to call emergency services in case of a crash and share the location of the vehicle. so no newer cars in the eu without an integrated sim card.

as long as you use a backup solution that encrypts the data before storing it remotely you will be fine. i like borg backup with borgbase as my first off-site storage, and a nas somewhere else as my second off-site storage.

i have a nas for my backup at my parents house. you don’t need friends for this 🤷

i think that is only valid for text, the method to restore blurred text is to draw and blur a lot of combinations and compare them to the blurred image. that’s probably not a thing with faces i guess…

like ‘finish setting up your phone’? there should not be many of them and they usualy just pop up once. 😐

notifications and popups as in ‘unwanted ads’ or did you just get a lot of textmessages?

because nobody knows how the internet works, so it’s scary. they are looking for houses to break into in streetview!!11 (satelite view is fine, though, because there you can only see the whole house and it’s surroundings which is nothing one can plan a burglary with…)

unfortunately there are still ads in the podcasts antennapod downloads. podgrab on the other hand downloads adfree versions apparently. i’m not sure why, though 😐

there probably is a list on the revolt discord 😵‍💫

there are companies that offer this. i think (at least in germany) it helps, that the structure of the car is kept intact, but there are probably still a lot of things the TÜV would like to check. i don’t think it’s easy (here) for a single person that does this once.

not sure how loyalty cards work in the us, but i don’t get how this should work with payback specifically.

  • you usually don’t get any in-store rebate
  • you need to enable coupons which are tied to the card number, the coupons only lead to ‘200 extra points’ or ‘3 times extra points’
  • the points are tied to the card number
  • you can buy things with points from their online store
  • you could pay with points, but that would mean you need to be sure there actually are points on that card (but to check that you would need to login to their portal or app)

the only thing that i can see is that you collect points for the person that ‘owns’ the number… 😐

but it said i had a virus?!?!?! ‘click here to remove it’

– a boomer, probably

unifi doorbell does this. you are not required to connect it to the internet. it is wifo only though (the doorbell itself)
