There’s enough DNA registered to find almost literally anyone in the US that way now. It’s how they caught the golden state killer. A partial DNA match will narrow down 350,000,000 people to less than 100. Then it’s just a matter of gettin’ a box of jelly donuts and gettin’ down to some good old fashioned police work with a game of Guess Who.

If you’re related to anyone that has done a DNA test ever, you’re already in the system.

I don’t have an epic account, never will. They’re not operating in good faith; they’re pushing the “launcher exclusive” release model, which only hurts consumers. If they match Steam’s features and drop exclusivity deals and prove it’s not a short-term trick, I’d consider buying from them.

I thought “whitelist” got cancelled for being racist? I distinctly remember being forced to rename everything to “IP Allowlist” and having to rename all my branches to “main” from “master”. Jenkins is 3rd party software, so it still has slaves… 😂

That sort of thing is required for a lot of enterprise certifications. When you do work for government, healthcare, banking, etc. stupid “security” is mandatory for checking off compliance requirements. Not that any of it has to be in any way effective…

There’s a large number of people in the US that fetishize the police. They honestly believe that if a cop shoots someone, they must have had a good reason and will 💯 support the cop without hearing any details. These people view the world as a struggle between good and evil. The cops and themselves are on the side of good, and if they don’t take aggressive action to keep evil at bay, evil will win and destroy us all. This is why Conservatism, Nationalism, and Christian fanaticism go together so well; they all share the same fundamental outlook on the world. The right wing has weaponized this in the US and we’re paying the price for it.
