I don’t understand how any of this is addressing any of the concerns that users have expressed about the direction of the company. In fact, if I was feeling particularly skeptical, I’d just as well believe that these posts were solicited from inside the company.
They are, they’re even indirectly admitting it.
meaning, management has signed off on this.
My bro Richard is gunning for a raise this next year that increases above inflation 🤣🤣🤣 Good luck, Dick!
“Stop lovingly handcrafting all of our code and use ai more”
For a company that is supposed to be all about security/privacy basically saying “Stop worrying so much about the quality of our code” is something else.
The way I would only say this in a sarcastic and mocking way to make fun of management and this guy truly believes in it LMAO.
ATP… I am confident you need to have some undiscovered mental illness, one that goes far beyond narcissistic behavior, in order to become a CEO.
Proton CEO:
Then the employee claims, for some reason
Truly struggle to believe people are this incompetent, and somehow manage to make their ways to $100k+ salaries lmfao. Shit is all a joke.
They can do as much damage control as they want. I’m not touching them with a 10 metre stick until their entire management is replaced.
All these attempts to make Proton and its CEO look better actually make them look worse.
It’s because no one making decisions at Proton actually knows what they did wrong or why people are mad at them.
I’d argue Andy and their “PR team”, if it exists beyond the advice of staff engineers like in the post above, seem to know exactly what they did wrong.
To push your engineers to hide their fuckin’ identities on personal accounts to be pro-company? Like lmao. Just that alone shows they are willing to go to any length to make their garbage product smell like anything but the steaming pile of shit that it is.
Fuck all the way off, proton
“My name is Richard” says Andy
“so go on there with your personal account”
A segue to a tactic that proton has used for years to subversively market for themselves, and market against other providers. They have been caught out doing it multiple times, including posting the exact same comment from multiple accounts pretending not to be affiliated with proton, those comments seem to disappear though in time.
Following how they conduct themselves on reddit was definitely an eye opener, at least for those with their eyes open.
A lot of proton staff would have already been well aware of what proton was really about.
Whenever I see a post with those markdown headers (that’s what those are, right?) I kinda just assume it’s slop.
My favourite part is the “we’re all in a bit of a shock about the articles written” in a PR piece that actively worsens their public perception hahaha
A+, great job, company in crisis mode pisses it’s pants on reddit
What? Is there not a way for them to know who is contributing what code? If there is, then knowing which code is AI-generated tells you exactly how much AI each person is using. What is this person talking about?
You really think AI defenders are thinking through anything?
If they actually don’t have a way to assess AI usage in software, in the walled garden that is corporate software dev, then they’re just incompetent lol

they are becoming european google, hence enshittification is upon us.
Searching your email is garbage ass garbage
Idk sounds somehow staged ? Or maybe not
ie. management signed off on this, meaning it’s just PR damage control; no one is “breaking the silence”.
as a former staff engineer, now ‘just’ a senior, who’s had to resign from places like this, this guy drank the kool aid and is probably almost certainly a yes-man. I mean, a staff engineer with a direct like with the CEO like this? I’ve been in these kinds of places. It’s not one where you want to be a suck-up. I’ve been invited to ‘hackathons’ at a CEOs house over a weekend. Gladly declined. He sounds like someone who would go to those. I was engineer #15 at a startup. A staff level at proton he might be something like that at best, but I’d bet later for proton, unless they don’t have architects.
Interesting. When I first saw the post on 404 I couldn’t quite believe it, but I guess i thought them to be more respectable. But I guess at the end of the day non-sensational articles don’t make money 🤷 for me the truth is somewhere in the middle I guess. I think Proton should consider replacing Andy anyway, but I think it’s doubtful it will happen.
Even if OOP is being truthful, Andy needs to go. He’s caused multiple outrages that severely impacted the companies reputation online. Responsible CEO’s don’t do that
