I have been using Disroot Mail since August. It’s a nice mail provider focused on not harvesting/selling your data.

Nope. Last time i tried osmand, it just asked me to pay.

Looking for a FOSS maps app. (iOS)
Greetings! For the past few weeks, i have been using Apple Maps for navigation. Only to realise that it does not have some specific places i go to regularly. And offline maps are just broken. And since i'm here, what are the best FOSS Map apps that have offline navigation? (i did try osmand and maps.me, theyre both paid)

Nope, i never jailbroken or given my phone to anyone. I always start a screen recording whenever i pass my phone to someone.

I do obviously know that avahi is bloat, but it’s a dependency of PulseAudio, preventing me from removing it

Takes long to install software, slow, requires reboot after install. That’s too much effort for me to handle.

Flatpak sucks in my opinion. What if i need to install something that is not on flatpak? The AUR exists too.

Nah. Regular arch is good. (except from systemd)

Also, isn’t “Parabola” dead? Last release was in 2022.

I have ditched Windows and went with Linux: My Story with Windows, What apps should i get rid of.
Greetings! Recently, i have ditched Windows for Linux. Why? Well, This all started with a Windows Update. I was working on a Discord bot, until my PC decided to restart without my consent. What was it? A Windows Update. I was like: "no big deal, ill just wait". Well, it was over 100+ updates. After all the updates completed, i saw the Windows 11 setup screen. Keep in mind that I was on WIndows 10 before the updates. Now at that point i really got angry. Like, I hate Windows 11. So then i went and completed the setup, and got met with ALL THE BLOATWARE REINSTALLED. So ofcourse, since i did NOT wanna use Windows 11, i backed up my data, and switched to the Secure and Free operating System, Linux. I went with arch, since i have used Ubuntu before, and it's terrible. And since i didn't wanna use any fancy Desktop Enviroments, such as GNOME, KDE, HyprLand, XFCE. I went with dwm. It looks very mininal and customizable. Now that brings me to the question, What apps should i get rid of? I know i did the same post like a few weeks ago, but for the sake of Privacy, i know Some apps contain Telemetry, and some Don't. But still. ![](https://lemmy.ml/pictrs/image/a8b9152d-4e35-43b4-b044-2f345868c96a.png)

I dualboot both Windows and Linux using the BIOS’s boot menu. Linux installed on a seprate drive, windows on another.

Well as you may know, when you try running pyinstaller on linux, it packs the .py file into a linux exectuable, not a windows executable.

I use Huawei Health to sync my Workout Data from my watch to my Phone. I don’t really know if i can get rid of it, as its the app my watch works with. (Huawei Watch GT 4)

I dualboot both Windows and Linux. I use windows just for pyinstaller and compiling, while i daily drive Arch Linux with dwm.

It does, but wake on lan is disabled in the BIOS.

Greetings! So recently, i spent a few hours coding software. After i was done and i shut off my pc, i noticed both of the ethernet lights were on and blinking. Does this mean that Microsoft is sending data to their servers before the PC fully shuts off? I am scared that this might be the thing it does. How can i get rid of this issue? I have no idea if it's related to Windows or the PC itself.

Well ever since i got this iphone, i didnt really bother removing all the bloat. Thanks for the recommendation though!

Well, all my home appliences rely on Alexa. I do trust amazon as i had no issues with it.

About apple, i did opt out from diagnostic data sharing, filled my icloud drive and disabled find my iphone. Tho to be honest, i had this iphone for 2 years now and havent found a reason to switch yet. (iPhone 12)

I just started caring about my own privacy. What apps should i get rid of, why and what can i replac

To be honest. What made me care about privacy was social media apps such as Reddit. Every single day, i used to get reddit notifications promoting “the most popular post in my country”. Look, at first i didn’t care. Now it got annoying, to the point where i replaced Refdit with Lemmy, getting rid of windows, switching to FOSS (free and open source software) apps and also using Degoogled Chromium. While reddit wasnt the only thing i mentioned so far, i hate how Youtube has to know where you live, and giving you directions to the nearest store (for certain ads). This probably may get malliciously used in the future, that’s what i got really aware of. Now it really hurt me when Youtube has killed most 3rd party frontends (such as invidious and piped). So in conclusion, Privacy can really matter for me as a lot of services i used to use can now collect data about you.
