Yeah, I started playing back in 1996 too. I haven’t actually played with Daggerfall Unity since late 2017, so I am excited to try it in its current form at some point soon. I want to try it out with the DREAM, World of Daggerfall, and Real Grass mods (and maybe some others).

Daggerfall Unity recently reached version 1.0
Daggerfall Unity is a recreation project letting you easily play and mod *The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall* on modern operating systems, like Linux. It recently reached a major milestone, version 1.0. Below is a link to a video showing how good modded Daggerfall (originally released in 1996) can look in 2024: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BahULQDXGas

Starwind (for OpenMW)
Just found out about Starwind, a Star Wars themed total conversion for Morrowind that can be played using the FOSS OpenMW engine (i.e. it can be played natively on Linux). I haven’t tried it myself, but I watched this video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qo-NO61jcX8 It can be downloaded from nexusmods for those who want to try it out on OpenMW: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/48909

Considering that not many people use BSD or the others, I would guess that most of the “unknowns” are actually Linux users. That means we’re probably already at over 6%. :-)

Great news, and a big thanks to the hard working developers! I want to try out the Lua scripting at some point.

Besides the original Morrowind, I’ve also read that both of the major mods, Morrowind Rebirth and Arktwend (which has a special OpenMW port available on NexusMods), can be played using OpenMW.

Thanks for sharing, that sounds interesting. I haven’t tried VR yet, but I’ll keep that in mind if I do.

The Steam Summer Sale has started
Which native Linux games are you all looking at? The one I have on my list to buy is Pine, with a couple others that I'm undecided on (like The Fertile Crescent, Nebuchadnezzar, and Alisa).

LibreGameWiki
LibreGameWiki is a very useful “wiki” style directory of free and open source game projects (that can all be played on Linux). https://libregamewiki.org/Main_Page It might help someone decide what to try out next. ;-)
