Thanks a lot! It doesn’t seem to overlay a translation over a live image, but the picture translation is rather effective.

Any Google Translate live camera feed alternatives?
Hi guys! I'm setting up a recently wiped phone, and just finding out that in order to use gTranslate, not only you need the app Google Translate, you ALSO need the app Lens, with its own permissions, and then ALSO force feeds you the app Google. Is there a way to avoid this? Or an alternative that allows live image translation (from Chinese if possible) from what the camera is seeing? As, for a travel trip, so I can read signs and texts on the street. Thanks!

More so than Lineage? I never heard of them.

I’ll try with Unravel Two, but it’s been driving me insane for a long while.

Pixel 7 with GrapheneOS. I have it, and I’m in Asia.

Yeah well, my GrapheneOS Pixel 7 with gservices (not a choice for some banking apps) has the damn device lock controller app installed. I can’t remove it. At least Graphene allows me to revoke its network/location permissions, which, by the way, it had granted by default.

How about outdoor cameras within the property? As in, private yards/pool areas/etc?

Besides the ease of registration, the sync between devices make it easier. It can be frustrating not to be able to easily backup/restore/sync all your chats just like Whatsapp or Telegram. Yes, privacy/security, but i believe not everyone is chased by a state actor and you might want to have the option, as an opt-in maybe.

Thanks! I bought a few tapos because of what i understood would be easy integration (with shinobi) but left them a bit abandoned since. The speaker function (to use the camera to talk) isn’t implemented, right?

THIS. This is the solution I needed originally. Additionally, there were a bunch of OTHER issues. But if you want a game to recognize you have a RT-capable card, this is what you need to add in Lutris or any other launcher. Thanks!

Kinda cross-posting… What would be the way to run Alan Wake 2 on Lutris proper? With Path Tracing
So.. Yeah, I installed Lutris on my KDE Neon (based off of Ubuntu 22.04, which might have an outdated Mesa...not sure how to get a most recent one?). I'm getting the now well-known AMD issue with textures, where the FBI jackets are non visible, and the facial textures look a bit...flat/untextured. Performance is rather decent with rasterizing, but Path Tracing/RT is grayed out in settings, not available. Another user suggested Nobara, which is Arch/Fedora-based. This fixed the textures, at the cost of completely tanking the performance to around 10-15FPS. RT settings continue to be greyed out... Any idea of what am I doing wrong? My card should be fully capable of displaying RT graphics, right ? Even if not hitting a great framerate, I'd like to see it! EDIT: Ok...Just to bring some sanity back, Windows DOES enable the path tracing, and I can see the performance hit depending on whether it's enabled or not, and it definitely plays with a rather high FPS if it's off. So...what's gimping my Linux experience? What can I try? Thanks!

Except, in my country, the banking website will NEED a token generated on the banking app. Internet banking assumes a smartphone with their app…or it’s completely blocked what you’re allowed to do.

I guess that’s the point, really…a lot of people wouldn’t consider those caveats to be…prime for daily driver status.

Well yeah…but eventually you end up needing some banking app or some other crap that might need G-Services.

Pinephone hasn’t quite reached daily driver status… And don’t get me started on the PPP.

Oh? I have an S10e. How do you go about this?

Thanks…As this is for traveling, I’d like to focus mostly in fully built products, and specifically compact/small ones. DIY is out of the question at this point, I’m afraid. EDIT: Uh…is diu.mil down?

Thanks…As a DJI owner myself, I pretty much know how much it wanted to phone home. After some update of the app, the drone would not fly if it didn’t at least check home once every month or so. And it forcefully updated the drone so it would reject the drone from taking off. And it would expire the login on the older app if you wanted to keep it, so you were pushed in all directions towards a phone-home-based model. It wasn’t this way in the beginning, and after some initial checks, the app could be kept offline. But after I got burnt with after-sales practices, I’d rather keep other models in mind. Or at least one that is easy to hack and forget.

Drone (quadcopter) suggestions?
Hi guys! Back in the day I bought a DJI Mavic (1st gen) for my travels, when they were not so absolutely obnoxious about sending ALL your flight logs back to the motherland. As the obnoxiousness increased, I ended up installing a CFW (Merlin, I think) on the drone, so I could fly unrestricted and with no logged-in account on the phone (custom modded app), with the app requiring no callback to any server. But seems these days the drone is increasingly misbehaving. Might be due to old age, but it tends to not detect obstacles at all, and also doesn't detect the floor, so landing is...hairy. So I'd like to have some sort of replacement, hopefully with similar flying aids (GPS positioning and obstacle detection at least, more are welcome), and hopefully smaller & foldable... but without the need to call home at every damn time. Is this possible? What are the recommendations these days? Can newer DJI drones be modded in the same manner? Are the alternatives? Thanks!

Is there any good TTS? RHvoice is kinda robotic, and the output volume is rather low, not ideal on a motorbike.

I mean if you want you should be able to download/compile to your phone model. With lineage its about as simple as downloading the source, running a specific single command that customizes the specific drivers for your phone, then hit compile and go take a coffee. You’ll end up with an installable image you can just copy to your phone.

I think you went on to check literally for the worst possible offender. That’s how they subsidize their cheap phones. They have now monitors (not TVs!) with smart features, only so they can continue to phone home. I’d advise to unlock and install something like lineageos on it.

What would be…recommendable smartbands/wristbands operable by Gadgetbridge?
Hi guys! So far I've been using Mi-Bands for a long time, and have been less happy each time with their increasingly frustrating pairing experience. All of course due to Xiaomi's encription key mechanism. My current Mi Band 6 is dying a bit too early due to failing battery, and I'm now looking for another band. Which ones would you recommend? I also tested the Pinetime, of which I have one. Notifications do work, but alas, at this moment it doesn't have multiple sync-able alarms, nor reminders. At this moment only one alarm works, and only setting it via a clunky UI in the watch. So, until this works, is there any good alternative out there? My main needs are time, seeing message notifications at a glance, and setting multiple alarms and reminders for different things in a day. So far Mi Band does these well, but the pairing and the need to use their damn Zepp app the first pairing time is a bit frustrating. Thanks!
