Feel free to DM me. It’s a good project and will look good on a resume so it’ll be worth my time. I’ll be learning the Android kernel but I’m comfortable with the Linux kernel so it’s the perfect project for me to be honest. I’m also willing to help organize the efforts of others, create documentation and respond to issues and pull requests.
I was already considering contributing to Postmarket OS or Bliss OS but this sounds like a better fit for me.

Unfortunately the fairphone falls quite behind in this and relies on software salt and hash that can be exploited.
Buying a used pixel and installing Graphene OS is absolutely a more secure platform than any AOSP based open source bootloader unlocked ROM.
With the right amount of customization yeah it can look really fancy. I could be mistaken but I recall Elementary OS’ Pantheon came from xfce/xubuntu originally.
However I’m still partial to KDE/Plasma personally as it does 99% of what I need out of the box.
That’s the great thing about Linux though. It’s exactly as bespoke and custom as you want to make it.
Proton has a business model where they want the user to put their eggs all in one basket. If you want that kind of userbase you need to leave your personal politics out of it. The problem isn’t that the CEO is right wing. It’s that he is very publicly right wing. Supports a known huckster. And lastly could be vying for a role in the administration. All of this calls into question just for how long Proton will be secure before they are selling user info to the state.
Politics are very fucking important in terms of security for whistleblowers and dissidents. They are the canaries in the coalmine as far as personal liberties go.
