Third party launchers do exist, yes, but normally you’d have to use Epic’s launcher. That’s what they’re counting on, anyway.

You would ordinarily have to use their launcher, but third party launchers do exist.

You can claim them, sure. But you’ll need their launcher when you want to play them.

OH. MY. GOD. How did I not know there’s a Old Reddit style interface included in Lemmy???

pinky swear

There’s not even a pinky swear. It’s not transactional in any way. It’s just a header you decide to send with every request. It’s the same as someone posting “I do not consent to Facebook harvesting data from my profile!” on their Facebook profile.

I just… I… I can’t install a browser that’s called “Floorp”. I just cant. I wouldn’t be able to look another person in the eyes and tell them that “I use floorp”. It’s probably a perfectly good fork of Firefox, but I just can’t.

Yup, I can customize and change the settings of my Moondrop earbuds with Gadgetbridge instead of the official app.

They have a feature where they toggle sound presets depending on your location. That’s the only thing that requires an account, as well as access to your location. It’s opt-in however (and pretty useless imo).

If it can toggle ANC and “passthrough” mode based on location, that would actually be an awesome feature for me. I often wear my earbuds while walking, taking the train, and shopping, and in the train I like having ANC on but at the supermarket I like having passthrough mode on so I can hear the cashier better.

But you never truly “own” a domain anyway, you just rent it via the registrars. The registrars and registries can take it away from you at any moment anyway.

I find it interesting that Germany is so far behind when it comes to IT and modernization. It’s like you’re stuck in 1990, even though you’re surrounded by countries that have used chip payment cards since the early 2000s and contactless payments since the early to mid 2010s. Nobody here in Denmark has touched a fax machine in the last 15-20 years, and apparently Germans still fax things sometimes to this day??

there are things that Android always tunnels through a VPN

Things that are NOT tunneled through the VPN, you mean.
A VPN is colloquially called a tunnel, so saying something “tunnels through” would mean that it does go through the VPN connection.

I’m lazy, and I already use Google Podcasts to keep track of what I’ve listened to already. Other than a client, I would also need to self-host something, so that I can continue my listening seamlessly (with synched progress) from multiple devices, including web browser on desktop, as I mentioned in a different comment.

If anything, I may consider a self-hosted solution like Audiobookshelf, as I need my progress to be synchronized across many devices, including desktop web browser, something Google Podcasts does well for me, in my opinion.

Not really, to be completely honest. I’m still too deep in the Google ecosystem.

I use 433 MHz buttons, switches and sensors for my smart home stuff, so I have a receiver (generic DVB-T SDR dongle) listening, and I can see all the tire pressure signals that passing cars send out.
