A lot of the more modern NVR systems can be accessed from the internet. So you can use these.

Synology has security station on their NAS systems (although there is some licensing nowadays depending on model and number of cameras.

Ubiquity also offers local storage for their system, that also offers a bellcam (like ring) and different in and outdoor camera models.

Good luck!

I don’t think it is fair to characterize their position as “let these guys run rampant”. The fact someone points out something that is unacceptable, does not automatically make them responsible for downstream effects and the solutions to these problems.

While I wholeheartedly agree these people (the online abusers) should be dealth with and the behaviour should have consequences.

ISPs and other commercial entities should either: curate the content and be liable for the content… or stfu and leave it to a government entity.

I favor the latter, realizing that this would require the entity to have proper funding.

Well, the first question would be if the revenues that meta makes are comparable. Because if they are not an argument can be made it is not a real alternative.

Second, the data COLLECTION, storage and processing is the issue. And all info on the subscription seems to suggest that does not change. Just the ad serving.

Lastly what about all users that don’t have a Facebook account but are tracked regardless. Meta and the other privacy-invasion companies should not be allowed too track me wholesale without my explicit consent, and luckily the law is on my side.

Maybe we should be less accepting of all the intrusive advertising that is done to us everywhere. Not just to children.

I wonder how they deal with GDPR compliance with this. All analonymous would be the only way.
