The idea is that I’d recognize a compromised system. Not perfect, but good enough. I don’t need to log into my bank account every day. But I will log into lemmy daily. So if a credential stealer + encrypter gets onto my system, I will most likely not have my sensitive passwords stolen. If the malware keeps a low profile, this won’t help, but most malware won’t.

Well, I guess with so many people recommending syncthing, I’ll have to look at it as well.

KeePassXC: Convenience of single passwords file and security of having multiple protected databases
I wanted to ask if it was possible, in any way, to have the convenience of just having to sync a single passwords file, while also having the security of putting more sensitive login credentials behind a different or additional passwords? On my computer, I usually have KeePassXC unlocked for the entirety of being logged in. So if my computer were to be compromised, the attacker would not only get access to relatively unimportant accounts, like this Lemmy account, but also highly important ones, like my email or bank login credentials. So I'd like to split my passwords file into multiple "files", where the unimportant logins are permanently unlocked for convenience, while the more sensitive login credentials remain encrypted until I actually need them. However, I also am fucking lazy and I know that I won't be able to keep up with the hassle of keeping multiple passwords files synced. So I wanted to ask if it is possible to keep the convenience of having just a single file that you need to sync, while also making use of the security that splitting up the passwords file brings. Currently I use KeePassXC on my desktop and KeePass2Android on my phone, but I'd be willing to switch to other software, if the benefits are there.

Hmm, that seems like a good start, but sadly pretty broad and incomplete. On the top of my head, I can recall an incident where Google automatically called the cops on a father, because he shared pictures of his child with a doctor. I also recall that in Germany, teachers can get in trouble currently, if they share images their pupils were sharing, with the parents to alert them. Furthermore, a scanner looking for certain triggers can be trivially circumvented by simply encrypting the images before sending them. All of those points seem to be missing from the website, which makes me question of those points I mentioned are really applicable or not.

Probably smart to take it down. What he did could be construed as hacking.

Make no mistake, Germany isn’t opposing this out of a principled stance. The German government too wants more ways to control people’s activity.

I much prefer uMatrix over NoScript, it is way more intuitive. And even though uMatrix is no longer updated, it still works better than NoScript for me. My Firefox Android has gotten soft-locked by NoScript in regular intervals. Since they enabled uMatrix for Firefox Android again, I have had no such issues.

Then that’l require more fighting. I however doubt that the constitution of most countries place huge blocks on giving people more freedom.

Then the constitution that would prohibit trans rights would need to be changed first. If politicians want to remove the constitutional right to privacy in order to allow spying on your own constituents, then go ahead and own the fact that you want to undermine the right to privacy. Don’t hide behind “oh, this will totally not affect law-abiding citizens”.

I have said it before and I’ll say it again: Politicians that push for legislation that has previously been ruled as unconstitutional should be charged for willfully trying to literally break the law.

What is your question exactly? How to do promotion on privacy focussed platforms? How to reach people still on ad-based platforms?

Is whatsapp deep rooted into humans soul that no changes will create hate to whatsapp ? Are everyone living in a subconcious state ?

That’s a bit melodramatic, isn’t it? Humans are creatures of habit. They have an app all their contacts are on, why should they change apps then? What you can do is sneakily install a different messenger app on your relative’s phones and write them through that.

I do, though I only use Tor to keep my ISP, and by extention my country, from learning which sites I visit. As such, it is of little concern to me, if the website I’m visiting can fingerprint me.

It does have an SD card slot at least:

STORAGE

8GB 256GB internal storage
External storage capacity: microSD up to 2TB (SD 3.0)

Fairphone is still keeping the FP3 alive and the hardware support for that phone has long since ended. They promise to work around the lacking support for the drivers of the FP5 and I believe that they will.

Actually, when you buy a Fairphone directly from them, they offer you to send them your old phone to be refurbished and reused, I believe in 3rd world countries.

Honest question: What for? I have never encountered a site that was truly broken on Firefox.
