You could use pad.riseup.net as a perfunctory solution. It’s just a text file that anyone with the link can edit, but Riseup is privacy-focussed.

I use the Firefox extension Untrap on my PC, and every time I go on Youtube it says the extension’s slowing the browser down. I use Invidious on an old tablet when I go to bed, and I just have to refresh now and again to get it working, but there are far fewer instances on the list, I’ve noticed.

And you’ll have fewer apps installed on your phone, which is something I’ve come to value lately.

Could you elaborate? What kind of phone do you have and do you use a free messaging application like Whatsapp?

I live in the Netherlands, where there’s a QR-code-based payment method called iDeal, which you need a Dutch banking app or little code machine thing to use. With my bank, at least, there are a few things you can do with the website that you can’t do with the app, but for day-to-day use the app’s fine.

I am NOT asking how do I use a privacy-focused front-end for YouTube, by the way, I am aware they exist.

I’ve tried it, and it’s quite good and heavily customisable, but a pain in the arse if you want to use more than one language. I think their Dutch version doesn’t even work if I recall correctly.

I see that’s a fork of Openboard, which I have, but I don’t really use it because it keeps suggesting American spellings (sometimes alongside British spellings), and my thumbs are too mighty to use a mobile phone keyboard without the suggestions. Would you happen to know if Heliboard fixes this?

running CV

Little bit off-topic and nitpicky, but a CV is by nature a running thing. The name even comes from a Latin word for “run”.

They sent me a menu when they confirmed the booking and asked me if I wanted anything when I was there. They’d bought in soy milk I think it was because I’d asked if they had a vegan option, which was nice enough of them. I suppose these must’ve been the exception rather than the rule then.

I’ve used one once by accident (booked through a different website) and it was just someone’s spare room, which I found pleasant. Then they charged me for a beer that evening and breakfast the following morning, which I found bizarre. I mean it makes sense but it felt odd.
