What I’ve done since Instagram is practically necessary for networking art my university, is using shelter for android I have Instagram Revanced in a work profile, and I’ve opted out from everything possible in the app, which is easy but not simple. I also have my account set to private and no posts, although maybe I’ll need some at some point idk. I also have trackercontrol to block trackers, and I use the Facebook Container add-on for Firefox as well as Ublock Origin.

I’m not really sure what you’re looking for here. You say you’re looking for something open source, simple and secure, but… what? The guide itself should be open source and secure? Or are you looking for a ‘threat model’, as privacy enthusiasts call it, or individual tools, or a list of tools?

There’s tons of people who host many foss server softwares at once. the.world team, vern.cc, and tchncs.de are a few other examples of that. I do find it interesting how they are branding this as if they are somewhat in control of how these platforms function, but yeah, it’s a pretty normal thing

That website is not recommended in the privacy community, I cannot remember why, but this is the recommended list: https://www.privacyguides.org/en/email

Edit: Why

I also suggest organic maps but I also wanted to say that OSMand is actually free

Idk much about the privacy features, but I’ve been using it for the past day and it’s way faster and better optimised then floorp.

My dad somehow believes that that password managers are very insecure ( he got that from some sort of ‘reputable source’, so me telling him bitwarden is secure doesn’t help) and he just writes down all of his completely randomly generated passwords in a notebook, which always seems really inefficient to me, especially when he writes a character down incorrectly.

Use vencord, which bundles OpenAsar, which disables the built-in tracking from the app.
