If you’re worried about the feds, you’ll want to turn on airplane mode and leave ot that way.

What OP is describing sounds like they got some sort of hardware blacklisted. Either they are using the app on the same phone, or Reddit has blacklisted the modem MAC.

Reddit links your account to the phone IMEI. The only way to get around it is to get a different phone.

You could poison it with junk info. Make it useless.

There are sellouts and traitors.

At the moment, it doesn’t. He could decide to violate Swiss law and turn data over to Trump.

That would certainly affect your privacy.

Mullvad.

Proton has a Trump ass kisser working in their C-suite.

I believe you can delete your phone number once you’re up and running, but yeah that seems like an anti-feature.

You could put out fake data. It’s unlikely that you’ll be able to get your real data removed, so start giving fake info for stuff that doesn’t need know who you really are.

Restaurants who ask for my name, I give “Gordon R” or “Guy F” or something similar. Do that with your digital life.

I use a hardened Firefox as a daily driver. I have Mullvad set as my default, so any application that redirects to the web won’t see my actual browser. I also keep a webkit based browser around for niche applications and troubleshooting.

Proton VPN was garbage for streaming services. I haven’t had problems since switching to Mulvad.

Back inbthe mid 00s, Canonical decided to send our searches to Amazon and show us ads in the system search results.

Debian is the parent of Ubuntu. It’s more stable, and doesn’t have the corporate influence to enshitify it.

I haven’t trusted Ubuntu since the Amazon ad debacle.

Wiped my drive, installed Debian, and haven’t looked back.

Fuck Canonical.

I use a credit union, and they obviously don’t care that my login location changes from week to week. If the login comes from outside the US, then I get a flag from the fraud department.

I get that when I’m usong a VPN. If I turn ot off, Tubular works agaim.

I’ve been using Tubular to watch YouTube videos anonymously and without ads.

I had briefly considered putting a Luigi bumper sticker, but then promptly decided against it.

This is why I have no bumper stickers on my car at all. I’m tempted to get rid of my veteran license plate, but the normal one costs quite a bit more and says “in god we trust”.

Because that worked so well with the US government’s back door into telecom companies. I don’t think they got the Salt Typhoon group out of the system yet.

Signal is trying to make its APK auto updating. This way they don’t have to wait for approval from Google to apply patches that might affect security.

I don’t know. Having a family member with dual citizenship gives me a good comparison between the US and the UK. Both of our governments are getting very Orwellian.

I hope I am wrong, but we’re now essentially being run by an unelected oligarch. Authoritarian regimes like the US will see it and demand the same for here.

My government is now basically a fascist regime. Musk is going to see this and demand that Apple do the same.

Apple is a US based company. For them to just roll over sets a bad precedent, especially for our fascists who are now running the show here.

What’s to stop the US government from going after the same services here? What’s about Tor or VPN services?

The authoritarians will smell blood in the water after this. Since the big player just gave up, who will stand in their way?

No, the only thing I wish would center around the US is an asteroid. I absolutely hate it here, but I don’t have the means to leave.

One of my in-laws has dual England/US citizenship. They divide their time between the two countries. It directly effects them.

It affects certain people from America. I have a relative who is directly affected by this.

Not if they are in the UK? Idk, that’s probably a weird edge case, but unless we’re all free, nobody is.

The UK is part of 5 Eyes. They swap info on citizens among members. No warrants, no constitutional protections. All they have to do is ask MI5 for info on Americans with dual citizenship.

No, but they’re part of 5 Eyes. The US government can ask MI5 to spy on US citizens, which gets around 4th amendment protections.

This will allow them to spy on any US citizens with dual citizenship.

A better title would be “Apple helps the US government bypass the 4th amendment”.
