The Simple Mobile Tools are being forked at Fossify.

Messages doesn’t have a release yet, but keep an eye on it for now.

Happy Thunder user here.

I’m also keeping an eye on Raccoon as another option. Keeping a secondary client since my previous favorite, Liftoff, was abandoned and I wanna be ready if it happens again.

My first thought was that this is some 4chan level garbage. So, that checks out.

Around where I live everyone uses TrueCaller. Absolute ad-ridden garbage though. I am using the Google dialer at the moment. Hoping there are some good ones in here.

Fair. But I’m okay with it only happening when I close the browser.

Mine does. There’s a setting to clear all cookies on close. I have to log back into everything every time. Never needed an extension for that.

I will use Firefox until the day it completely stops existing. You can pry it from my cold, dead hands. In regards to search engines, I’m using Startpage these days. I am actively looking around for something else that is free as in beer, useful, and reliable. I want to set and forget it, not constantly manage it because the instance I use is down or something.

Like the other poster said, Mull is a fork of Firefox for Android that includes tweaks from the Arkenfox user.js.

It’s possible but will never be 100%. O&O Shutup is a good start. Just be careful with it. Do just the recommended settings and revert anything that breaks as you go.

Thanks for the explanation. Doubt I would have found such a simple answer if I went searching.

Does DNS over TLS have any advantages over DNS over HTTPS?

You could try the F-droid repo for development versions of Shelter. Maybe this version would work better.

Yeah, Mulch devs recommended using Bromite as far as I remember and Cromite is an up to date fork. That’s why I mentioned it specifically.

Okay. Just wanted to mention it since I’m pretty sure the team behind Mulch recommend using Bromite instead (last I checked at least).

I see you recommend Mulch instead of Bromite. Have you considered Cromite?

Yeah, that’s why I decided to leave the comment there. Not everyone has a rigid stance on free software and privacy. If this software allows someone to finally ditch Windows or MacOS, then it’s already more secure and private than before.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. Wasn’t too sure because I haven’t checked it out myself. Just know I’ve seen it mentioned a few times.

I’ve heard good things about Photopea.

ETA: No idea about privacy, etc.

Edit2: I’ve been informed it’s not free software. Leaving it here for anyone that might find it useful, though.

There is a fork of Bromite, called Cromite, if you’re interested.

Driving through a tunnel is a short break in connectivity. These things are probably built in such a way that they’ll brick after not being able to connect for an extended period since not working due to a short disconnect would give the brand a bad reputation after happening a few times.

Any idea what issue 4chan had with the name? I honestly can’t imagine being so upset over this name.

It’s a lot better than stock, even though there are still some Google things left over. If you don’t install your own GApps, then the Google stuff in Lineage is minimal.

Though, last I checked, IzzyOnDroid does warn that they usually only host things not found on F-droid. Once something they host gets included in F-droid it’s often removed from IzzyOnDroid without warning.

Just adding Simple Keyboard here as well. It has no features besides typing. It’s literally just a keyboard. Been using it for a bit and like it, but it won’t be for everyone.

Fair enough. I don’t use it. Just thought the results might be more because of Bing than their own algorithm or something.

I’m not sure if it’s because DDG uses Bing for its results, but I feel like that might be why the results in DDG are like that. Might be coming directly from Bing, unless something happened with DDG that I don’t know about.

This was my experience with SwiftKey. Used it since before Microsoft got it, but recently switched to Simple Keyboard and I really do miss how SwiftKey worked.
