on Win 11 I was getting 30 to 40 fps on maximum settings. on CachyOS i’m getting 75+ fps on the exact same settings…

(…On upgraded hardware) ;p

Hahaha, we have straight up liars lurking in the thread!

A first for the Lemmy platform! /s

I’m not so sure. Can you really trust Big Tech with your data?

That’s what donations are for.

Also, many opensource services can be selfhosted for free, while the company/developer gets they payment via donations and/or charging a support service fee to enterprises/people.

That and exposure to the homelab community which in turn can lead to future implementation in enterprise.

Except for the statements that Apple is a better option for privacy. Its not.

Any OS or app that is not opensource code can’t be trusted.

One more gaming PC with Linux for adding to those higher stats of Tux ;)

Funny j just got one today.

Of course I did my part!

First steam survey I ever got and I have been on steam as long as I can remember.

Hahaha good one!

Yeah, its one of the first things that gets nuked from orbit on a fresh Windows install.

An efficient solution would to just stop using Google’s services all together. That way they can’t spy on you so easily and make a profile from your internet habits.

There are plenty of alternatives to Google services in the opensource realm.

Yes, the Infinity for Reddit fork.

The cool thing is that I just imported my settings from IFR to Eternity flawlessly.

Nice!

Get those f*ckers!

However, the latest trend in the EU, is to pave way for a legislation to intercept encrypted messages on a government mass surveillance scale level.

They can achieved this by (pre)installing MTM (man-in-the-middle) software on new devices. Or require a user to install a (Trojan) app on their phone to be able to access a particular public service etc.

Now, That’s troubling news indeed.

Edit: The EU is turning into a police state.

Yes, tech enthusiasts are a minority and most people are tech illiterate.

It’s free If you copy one command into powershell.

From there you can even create a shortcut on the desktop.

If I was forced to use WhatsApp, I would use shelter (or work profile) to separate it from the main profile.

Man, if you really value your privacy you shouldn’t use WhatsApp (difficult of course as everyone uses it)

and social media (difficult as everyone use it), except for Lemmy, Mastodon or Signal !!

Privacy is not an easy path as it’s against the whole mainstream society.

But its worth embracing, because it’s a human right, even if it’s not “comfortable” doing so.

Edit: there is of course other ways of communication like regular phone calls or sending SMS instead of WhatsApp messages. So feel free to liberate yourself.

If being cheap is a priority, I suggest getting a Steam Deck, it’s designed for gaming (unlike budget laptops) and it’s a PC.

You can get a Legion 5 Pro with a 3060 and SSD 512GB for cheaper than a Steam Deck 512GB in my country, so I can’t say its a cheaper than a gaming laptop.

What hypervisor are you using for windows in Tumbleweed for GPU pass though?

The Epic logout issue is fixed now!
