I think that better than using a VPN I to use an app that protects you from trackers like duckduckgo or rethink DNS

  • Mull browser with uBO
  • Duckduckgo for tracking protection
  • Proton email

There’s a lo of information that sites, not only Facebook, use to track you. Email address can be one this. Anyway, I consider that using anonymous email address is a good idea not only to avoid tracking, also for security reasons I case of filtering, for instance.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a lot! Now I can definitely leave gboard. One step more in my degoogling process.

The only way I’ve used duckduckgo browser is for tracking protection feature and to get anti tracking email address. For internet browsing I prefer Mull

So far, I understand that mint doesn’t use snapd, right?

What do you mean with “anonymous login”? If you need to create an account, then it’s not anonymous.

I think any Android version is better in terms of privacy than iphone. iOS is property and a lot closer and less customizable than android. If you are really concerned about privacy, my suggestion is not to use iphone.

You need to also allow mmg.whatsapp.net and some CDN domains to allow download image and files.

I use several free drives and I mount them as encrypted union with rclone.

I mainly use Droid-ify. It is my favorite one. And I also use Aurora when I need an app from the play store.

This. I’ve moved to those browsers some time ago and I’m very satisfied. uBO is also a MUST.

Is there any public instance available?

Edit: I’ve been searching and it seems that there are currently no public instances available. If I had some time I’ll try to host one.

It seems that Hauk project is abandoned. Las commit was 2 years ago.

Well… This thread is more about your feelings than anything else.

You can identify specific scripts with the logger and from the same window you create a dynamic rule

I totally recommend tutanota. I use the free.

You can also use the logger to identify specific elements and then create a rule to block them.

I’m currently using this one (Translate web pages). I think it is not the most privacy friendly, but is really useful. It also works for mobile Firefox (actually I use Mull)

The first and most important thing is that platforms in the fediverse that use activitypub protocol are not intended to be private communications entities, so you must be very aware that everything you post there will be publicly availabe on the internet.

Answering your questions: **1. What information does the instance(s) have on their users? **All the information you provide. Username, email, location, etc. plus some information about what you post (application, ip address). It could be different between platforms. You can check privacy policy for your platform/instance. For example mastodon.social privacy policy

2. What information can users get on other users? mainly the information you post in your profile and posts. again, it could be different between different platforms.

3. What information can the infrastructure providers get on users of the fediverse? I think this is the hardest question to answer and, maybe, an admin could have more information. So far i know, infrastructure providers cannot access any data from services they hosts. But it could depend on the provider policies.

Finally, private messages are not encrypted. You should consider just for casual communication. There are other ways to send private and encrypted direct messages.

So far I understand it’s no necessary to use both. You can do everything that Noscript does with uBO.

I don’t know what they exactly do, but meta services app is constantly trying to connect to Facebook. I’ve isolated it with rethinkDNS so it can’t use internet connection.
