I tried it but was a little disappointed tbh. It only supports 60Hz so it stutters on my two Android devices with 120Hz display and its just pretty basic in terms of settings. I do need a speed dial or something like that so I have all my bookmarks on the home screen but Bromite doesn’t have that (unless there’s a setting for that now).
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad browser at all. It just doesn’t fit my needs.

Edit: I just found out about a fork of Bromite which is called Cromite.

Bromite was my go-to browser, but it’s dead. No updates since December, no active development, and not responses from the dev. If you want to use bromite, one of the contributors had keeping the patches up to date. You can find the releases on this GitHub repo

I’d recommend the tor browser, it’s on the guardian project official releases repository on fdroid.

Looks like the last update was in December of last year. I remember seeing rumors that the project was no longer being maintained but never saw anything conclusive from the dev. Based on releases though, it’s not being maintained

Link to releases.

Anecdotally, I used it a few years ago and became frustrated that it didn’t integrate with my password manager. I always had to switch between the apps instead of just clicking the password pop-up like all the other browsers. Not sure if they ever fixed that.

Mull all day, pretty much librewolf for your phone!

Edit: Bromite is basically not a thing anymore, closest would be Vanadium

you can purge cookies automatically on exit

But there are some site that I don’t want to purge cookies, and realistically most people don’t really click the exit button on mobile.

you are on a community about privacy. “most people” is not a valid argument here :)
