I had to start using Google Messages recently because Signal dropped SMS support. It sounds like it’s time to switch SMS app yet again. Sigh.
Give QKSMS a try. Very good FOSS app, especially if you install from F-Droid. Alternatively, Connect You doubles as a FOSS contacts and SMS app. Also, the Fossify fork of Simple Mobile Tools’ Simple SMS app is now out and picks up where Simple SMS left off.
